Ann Thomas, 87, of Van Horn, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026, surrounded by family after a long battle with dementia.
Ann was born on April 21, 1939, in Quitaque, Texas, to Hood P. Wise and Mable Ford Kilgore Wise.
She was married to James Thomas for 42 years. When not serving at church or assisting the children’s ministry, she could often be found outside gardening in her “park” or spending time with family and friends. She was also a proud small business owner of The Trading Post and Ann’s Flowers & Gifts. She had many talents and used her creativity to decorate local businesses, especially during the Christmas season. She spent the majority of her adult life in Van Horn, Texas, before moving to Northwest Arkansas to be closer to her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Franklin Thomas; her son, Mallie “Mal” Wise Thomas; daughter-in-law, JoAnn; an unborn granddaughter, Heather Ann; and one brother, E.F. Wise.
She is survived by one daughter, Paige Thomas Moreland (Kelly) of Rogers, AR; three grandchildren, Malorie LuAnn Moreland of Rogers, Thomas Kelly Moreland (Kelsey) of Rogers, and James Ryan Moreland (Raya) of Fayetteville, AR; and four great-grandchildren, Margot Annalyn and Marshall Thomas, children of Thomas and Kelsey, and Benjamin Rayne and Veronica Paige, children of Ryan and Raya.
Funeral services will be held May 4 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Van Horn, Texas, with burial to follow at Van Horn Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving will be Kelly Moreland, Thomas Moreland, Ryan Moreland, Roger Sanders, Pierce Thomas, and Chase Thomas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Rd, Springdale, AR 72762.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Heritage Funeral of Van Horn of Van Horn.
