Eduviges "Vicky" Gonzales

Eduvijes Gonzales, better known as “Vicky” was born on September 10, 1934, in Mexico to parents Jose and Teodora Valdez. Vicky was the oldest of seven children. She had 5 brothers Felipe Valdez (Marta), Lorenzo Valdez (Olga), Jose Valdez (Delia), Guadalupe Valdez (Sylvia), Jesus Valdez (Rita), and one sister, Soledad Melendez (Manuel). A cousin but more like a brother, Lolo Urias (Rosa Emma)

Vicky had four children to include, Alfonso Gonzales (wife-Deana), children and grandchildren include Alfonso Jr, Brigitte, Adrian, Jeremiah, Azlyn and Zaylan. Daughter Maria Kennedy (husband-Aubrey), children and grandchildren Isaiah (Priscilla) Macey (Justin), Michael, Marko, Alissa Gianna, Taylor Aubrey, & Harper Rose. Son Efrain Gonzales (wife-Tomy), children Jeremy, Britni (Marc), Megan, grandchildren Aiyana (Carlos, Laiyla, Antonio), Camryn, Ella Grace & Noah. Son Felipe Gonzales (wife-Nancy), children Leslie Rae (Zuriah) and Felipe Jose.

She is preceded in death by her parents Jose and Teodora Valdez, brothers Felipe Valdez, sister-in-law Marta Valdez, Lupe Valdez, sister Soledad Melendez and brother-in-law Manuel Melendez.

Vicky lived in Van Horn most of her life. She raised 4 children in Van Horn and was a valued member of the community. She was an extremely hard working, courageous woman. She instilled many great values to her children that have led to an amazing legacy she leaves with them. Vicky was the “queen” of biscochos in Van Horn. It was not unusual for people to stop by for a bite to eat because she was always happy to feed you.

Vicky is blessed with many cousins, nieces, and nephews that she dearly loved.

She will be truly missed but we have faith that we will see her again.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday June 18th at Heritage Funeral Home at 2:00pm to 9:00pm with the Rosary at 7:00pm. The funeral mass officiated by Father Frank Hernandez will be held on Wednesday June 19, 2024 at our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church at 10:00am. The burial will follow at the Van Horn Cemetery.

Pallbearers serving are; Alfonso Gonzales Jr., Isaiah Kennedy, Jeremy Gonzales,Marco Kennedy, Urbano Melendez, Adrian Diaz,Felipe Jose Gonzales,and Michael Urias.

The Funeral Arrangements are in care of Heritage Funeral Home of Van Horn, Texas.
