In Loving Memory of Edward Carrillo Nunez

After a lengthy illness, Edward Carrillo Nunez, affectionately known as Eddie, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 14th, 2026. Born in Van Horn, Texas, on May 31, 1958, to Diego and Ginoveva Nunez, Eddie remained a proud, lifelong resident of the community where He lived and worked.

Eddie will be remembered fondly for his kind heart and gentle demeanor. A man of many passions, he loved watching classic Westerns, listening and dancing to Mexican music, and cheering on his beloved Dallas Cowboys. He possessed a wonderful talent for fixing and rebuilding cars, a hobby that brought him great joy throughout his life. Above all, Eddie was a loving son, uncle, and brother, as well as a devoted and deeply loving husband to his wife, Ruth Benavidez Nunez.

Family and Loved Ones

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Diego and Ginoveva Nunez, and his sister, Lupe Nunez Santiago (Tony). He is survived by his four brothers: Oscar Gonalez (Gloria), Chano Nunez (Mingguo), Reymundo Nunez (Lila), and Victor “Woody” Nunez (Lulu). He also leaves behind a legacy of love through his numerous nieces and nephews: Gabriel, Anissa, Chanito, Carlos, Luis, Oscar Jr., Victor, Amanda, Ana, Gracie, Bonnie, Corina, Cindy, and Tony.

Funeral Services

A funeral mass officiated by Father Sergio Legaretta will take place at 10:00 a.m. on October 2nd, 2026, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Van Horn. Burial will follow at the Van Horn Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Eddie’s brothers, Oscar, Chano, Victor, and Reymundo, alongside his nephew, Tony Santiago.
