Guadalupe “Lupe” Tarango, 68, passed away unexpectedly on May 9, 2025, in his hometown of Van Horn, Texas.
Lupe was born on December 31, 1956, to Ramon and Josefa Tarango in Candelaria, Texas. He was a hardworking man and worked many years in a pecan farm. He loved spending his days with his wife, Manuela Tarango, and his dog, Tiny. Lupe will be remembered for his kindhearted personality, his beaming smile, ability to make everyone laugh, always helping others, and his love for the Dallas Cowboys.
Lupe is preceded in death by his parents Ramon and Josefa Tarango, his sisters Dulces Escajeda, Eustolia Garcia, his brothers Jose “Beche” Tarango, Ramon Tarango and son Pedro Venegas.
Lupe is survived by his wife, Manuela Tarango, his children Guadalupe Venegas, Johnny Venegas, Carlos Venegas Muro, Isidro (Nuni) Venegas, Efrain Venegas and Fidel Venegas, his sisters Socorro Guerrero, Paula Tarango Frayre, Elfida Gonzalez, Maria Rodriguez, and Anita Muniz, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A viewing will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Thursday May 22, 2025, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, with the Rosary, at 7:00 pm. to 8:30 pm at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. The funeral mass, officiated by Father Sergio Legarreta, will be on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 11:00 am. The burial will follow at the Van Horn Cemetery.
The Pallbearers serving are Efrain Venegas, Fidel Venegas, Nuni Venegas, Waldo Ruiz, Cameron Flores, Antwan Burrell, Salvador Rodriguez, and Tony Escajeda.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Heritage Funeral Home of Van Horn, Texas.
