Lilia Hinojos Tarango, age 80, of Van Horn, Texas, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on March 28, 1945, in Coyame, Mexico, to Lazaro and Josefa (Carrasco) Hinojos. Lilia dedicated her life to being a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She found joy in planting, storytelling, sewing, and making beautiful “limpiadores” for the kitchen. She also loved working on crossword puzzles and trying her luck with scratch lottery tickets. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, care, and love.
Those left behind to cherish her love and memory are her four daughters: Elizabeth Tarango of El Paso, TX; Linda Seijas and her husband, Evidencio Seijas of Van Horn, TX; Maribel Esquivel of El Paso, TX; Rosa Isela Robledo of El Paso, TX; and her one son Rodolfo Tarango Jr. and his wife Priscilla Tarango of Hobbs, NM. Lilia was a proud grandmother of fifteen grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Lilia was also survived by her siblings: Isidro Hinojos and his wife, Maria Hinojos of Odessa, TX; Delia Franco and her husband, Efren Franco of San Antonio, TX, Trinidad Hinojos and his wife, Lupe Hinojos of Odessa, TX; and Natividad Franco of Stonewall, TX.
Lilia is preceded in death by her parents, Lazaro, and Josefa Carrasco Hinojos; her husband, Rodolfo Tarango; her sisters Ester Vargas and Maria Urias; her brother, Francisco Hinojos; and her twin brother Juan De Dios Hinojos, whom she adored with all her heart.
Pallbearers serving are Joe Angel Tarango, Christopher Becerra, Michael Becerra, Jeremy Beccera, Daniel Esquivel Jr., Jose Luis Esquivel, Martin Robledo Jr., Sebastian Tarango; and Honorary Pallbearer, Adrian Tarango.
A viewing will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Tuesday March 3rd from 12 noon till 9pm. The funeral service will be at 10:00 am Wednesday at The Seventh-day Adventist Church. The burial will follow at the Van Horn Cemetery.
