Moises Torres 1969–2026
Moises Torres, 57, passed away on July 8, 2026.
He was born on June 26, 1969, to Jose and Petra Torres in Van Horn, TX. He grew up in Van Horn and graduated from Van Horn High School in 1988. He joined the United States Army immediately upon graduating. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division and a Desert Storm Veteran. He was a registered nurse who proudly worked at the VA hospital for many years. Mo will be remembered for his joy of life and his love of motorcycles and hunting. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Jose, and his mom, Petra. He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Ester Torres, and his maternal grandfather, Lucio Perales.
He is survived by his sisters, Elizabeth and her husband, David Rodriguez, of Big Spring, TX, and Carlota Torres of Van Horn, TX. He is also survived by his brothers, Eli Torres of Van Horn, TX, Jay and his wife, Jackie, Torres of Odessa, TX, and Mason Torres of Van Horn, TX. He is survived by his nieces, Briana Rodriguez, Rebecca Rodriguez, and Jaylin Torres, his nephews, Matthew Rodriguez and David Rodriguez, as well as several great-nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held from 12 P.M – 9 P.M on Tuesday July 14 with a service at 7 P.M.at Heritage Funeral Home. The funeral service will also be held at Heritage Funeral Home and is to be officiated by Brother Carlos Torres on Wednesday morning at 10 A.M. The burial will follow at the Van Horn Cemetey.
Pallbearers are Jay Torres, Mason Torres, Travis Welch, David Rodrigues, Mathew Rodrigues, Carlos Hernandez, John Solis, and Henry Solis.
The funeral arrangements are in the care of Heritage Funeral Home of Van Horn, TX.
