Oscar Calderon Espinoza

July 20, 1945 — February 3, 2025

Van Horn

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Oscar C. Espinoza ,79, on February 3, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Oscar lived a life full of love, laughter, and service to his community.

Oscar was a family person through and through, always bringing joy with his storytelling and humor. Whether working on projects, cruising around in his van, or tending to his beloved “honey-do” list for his wife, Maggie, his greatest joy was being surrounded by those he loved.

A dedicated public servant, Oscar served Culberson County as a County Commissioner for 17 years and as Justice of the Peace for 31 years. After retirement, he and Maggie set out on new adventures, traveling in their RV, and dedicating their time to their cherished five-star restaurant, Mom’s Kitchen—a place where love and community came together over a meal.

Oscar’s legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched. His warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to family and friends will be deeply missed but forever remembered.

Oscar is preceded in death by his parents Jesus and Manuela Espinoza, son Edward Espinoza, sister Marylou Garcia, brother Israel Espinoza, great-granddaughter, Kristy Velez.
