Obituary

Roberto Luna Gomez, 81, of Van Horn, Texas passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026, at home surrounded by his family. He was born on June 7, 1945, in El Paso, Texas to Fabian Gomez and Maria Garcia. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother, Ruben Gomez.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Florinda Gomez; children: Rosemary Gomez, Lorina Carrasco, and Fabian Gomez; his grandchildren: Isaiah Carrasco, Adam Carrasco, and Sofia Chattar-Gomez; and brother, Fabian Gomez, Jr.

He served in the Vietnam War while in the Army. Upon his return to Van Horn, he married and began his family. Several years after his return he established an auto repair business. After 30 years, he closed his business and proudly worked at Van Horn Auto Supply (Napa) until 2021.

He was a proud man who lived his life with strength, honesty, and unwavering commitment to his family.

The services will be on Friday September 18, 2026, at the following times: Rosary starting at 9:00 am at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Viewing will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Father Sergio Legaretta will be officiating the mass at 11 am.

Burial to follow at the Van Horn Cemetery.

The pallbearers serving will be Vance Cottrell, Pete Gomez, P.J. Gomez, Benjamin Gomez, Rudy Hinojos, and Luis Sanchez.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of Heritage Funeral Home of Van Horn.
