Ruben Gomez

Ruben Gomez “Chapo” age 66 passed away in Van Horn, Texas on September 19, 2021. Chapo was born on November 19, 1954 to Fabian and Maria Gomez in El Paso, Texas. He was a lifelong resident of Van Horn and a Van Horn High School Graduate. He enjoyed working with cars, his specialty was bodywork. His passion was reading, watching Law and Order and watching his favorite team “The Steelers”. Chapo will be missed by everyone he touched. Those left behind to cherish Chapos memories are his brothers: Robert Gomez and his wife Florinda and Fabian Gomez Jr. and his wife Vickie. Chapo was blessed with two nieces Rosemary Gomez, Pita Carrasco and his nephew Chemo Gomez. He will be truly missed. Chapo is preceded in death by his son Ruben Gomez Jr. and his parents Fabian and Maria Gomez. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church on Friday September 24, 2021. Officiating will be Father Frank Hernandez of Van Horn, Texas. The burial will follow at the Van Horn Cemetery. Pallbearers serving are: Chemo Gomez, Edmundo Mata, Armando Mata, Vance Cottrell, Foy Cortez and Eloy Tarrin. The funeral services are entrusted to Heritage Funeral of Van Horn, Texas
