Sabino Talavera Jr., age 82, passed away peacefully in his home in Van Horn Texas. He was born in Van Horn on September 15, 1943, to Sabino Sr. and Andrea Talavera. Sabino was a lifelong resident of Van Horn. He married the love of his life Mary on August 12, 1961. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

A greater friend could not be had. He was one who never met a stranger. Sabino was proud of his community and his golf course. His greatest passions were the moments that he spent with family, friends and especially his grandchildren. He loved the wonderful companionship he and Marta Corrales shared, he also enjoyed the wonderful times he spent with her family, Duane, Refugio, Pat, Roxanne and Victor, they were a special part of his life. Sabino was an avid golfer who enjoyed the game but more importantly enjoyed teaching the game. He will be greatly missed.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters Anna N. Hinojos and her husband Artemio of Van Horn, Charlie Reyna and her husband Eddie of Abilene, and his daughter by heart Betty Hinojos and her husband Sergio, his sons Moe Talavera, and his wife Lorie of Monahans and Michael Talavera and his wife Sonnia of Odessa. He is also survived by his sister Nina Flores and her husband AP Flores and his brother Miguel Talavera and his wife Elvira. Sabino was blessed with eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Sabino is preceded in death by his wife Mary, his parents Sabino Sr. and Andrea Talavera, his brothers Orlando Talavera, Jose Talavera, Javier Talavera and his sister Susie Campos.

A viewing will be held on July 6th at Heritage Funeral Home from 12 noon to 9 P.M. with a service at 7 P.M. The funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Lorenza Arzate on Tuesday morning at 10 A.M. at The Templo De Dios Church, 201 Desert Str. The burial will follow at the Van Horn Cemetery.

Pallbearers serving will be; Juan Urias, Xavier Urias, Bryan Talavera, Ryan Martinez, Larry Hernandez, Eduardo Reyna Jr., Ayden Marin, Ivan Talavera, and Michael Talavera.

Honorary Pallbearers are; Ismael “Bobby “Santiago, Pete Fuentes, Manuel Urias, Andrew Sanchez, Ismael Rodarte, Izmar Flores, and Isayell Flores
