Steven Wayne Flippen was born on February 2, 1959, in Muleshoe, Texas. He died in Van Horn, Texas on March 20, 2026.
“Stevie” is survived by a daughter, Stephanie McCoy of Kaufman, Texas, three grandchildren - Bailey Malcom of Kaufman, Jaidyn McCoy of Lubbock, Texas, Sgt. Blake McCoy of El Paso, Texas, two great grandchildren - Saylor Malcom and Baylor Barraza with two more on the way. His surviving family includes his siblings: Elayne Miller and her husband Mike from Palestine, Texas; Kirby and his wife Anita from San Angelo, Texas; and Lonnie and his wife Sandy from Clifton, Texas. Stevie is remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends, among whom Roy Torres holds a special place.
Stevie was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Greta Flippen of Valentine, Texas.
Stevie was musically inclined and learned to play the piano and guitar at an early age. He was a graduate of Valentine High School. He loved animals and always had a dog to care for. He was a truck driver who loved the open road. Stevie never met a stranger. It was often mentioned that he created his own set of rules and followed them throughout his life.
Graveside service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Evergreen Cemetery in Valentine, Texas just south of Highway 90.
Pallbearers serving are Nathan Eckert, William Eckert, Barney Eckert, Raul Sanchez, Roy Torres, Shane Grubb, Kirby Flippen and Lonnie Flippan.
Funeral service is in the care of Heritage Funeral Home of Van Horn.
