Valentin Franco Urias was called to his eternal home on May 29, 2024. He was born on April 28, 1961, in Lomas De Arena Chihuahua, Mexico to Manuel and Manuela Urias.
Valentin was a lifelong resident of Van Horn. He had a passion for the cowboy life, riding horses, roping and working with animals out at the ranch. He loved music, dancing and spending time with family. Valentin also enjoyed going to the Chevron or Gilberts to drink coffee and share gossip with his friends, and if he wasn’t there you could find him at Valeros or H&H buying lottery scratch offs. He also loved baseball; you could always find him sitting on his couch watching games during baseball season. Valentin was an awesome husband, father and grandfather, he will be truly missed.
He is survived by his lifelong partner Erlinda Sanchez, his children: Chris Herrera, Sonia Urias, Edith Urias, Brizelda Urias, his five grandchildren: Zabian, Zaida, Zariah, Zenae and Xavier, his two grand puppies Shaggy and Oddie. Valentine is also survived by his sisters Irma Melendez, Elvira Apodaca, Francisca Urias, Gabriela Ojeda, Lourdes Tarango, Amparo Garcia, and his brother Arnulfo Urias. He is preceded in death by his son Adrian Urias, his parents Manuel and Manuela Urias, his sisters Maria Elena Urias, Carmen Baeza and his nephew Eduardo Melendez.
A funeral mass officiated by Father Frank Hernandez was held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church on Wednesday June 5, 2024, at 3:00 pm. The burial followed at the Van Horn Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving were Chris Herrera, Javier Urias, Zabian Urias, Margarito Apodaca, Gabriel Baeza, Jerry Melendez, Gary Ojeda, Omar Melendez. Honorary Pallbearer were Victor Urias and Jesus Apodaca.
Funeral arrangements were in care of Heritage Funeral Home of Van Horn, Texas.
