Isaac J. Franco

Isaac J. Franco departed this life on October 11, 2022 in El Paso, Texas at the age of 86. Born in Por Venir, Mexico, on June 3, 1936, to father, Dolores Franco and mother, Maria Juarez Franco. Isaac lived his last 20 years in Van Horn, Texas, having been predeceased by his wife, Petra Baeza Franco on October 10, 2014, son Alfredo Franco on October 7, 1997, along with five brothers and sisters: Manuela Franco Urias, Nolasco Franco, Pablo Franco, Ofelia Franco Lujan and Elvira Franco Baeza.

Isaac is survived by his daughter, Maria ‘Mere’ Franco, of Van Horn, TX, son, Urbano B. Franco of Midland, TX; nine grandchildren: Angela Marie Cherryhomes of Midland, TX, Ramiro Franco Ornelas of Weatherford, TX, Fabian Franco, Ernesto Franco and Isaac Manuel Franco all of Taylor, Texas, Giovanni Franco, Nathan Franco, Lizbeth Franco and Caitlin Franco all of Roswell, New Mexico, and Ivan Franco of Midland, TX; along with six great-grandchildren: Garrett Ornelas, Dylann Ornelas, Luke Cherryhomes, Peyton Franco, Nolan Franco and Aria Franco.

As a boy in Mexico, Isaac loved riding horses. As a young man, he and Petra moved to the United States where he worked construction, on farms, and the talc mine in Van Horn for many years.  Isaac will be remembered as a hard worker, a great storyteller, and for his gentle nature.  Isaac will be dearly missed by his family including all the many nieces and nephews and many friends.

A funeral mass for Isaac was held on October 19, 2022 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Van Horn, Texas officiated by Father Frank Hernandez. The burial followed at the Van Horn Cemetery.

Pallbearers serving were Ramiro Ornelas, Fabian Franco, Giovanni Franco, Nathan Franco, Isaac Franco, Ernesto Franco, Benjamin Baeza and Auden Urias.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home of Van Horn, Texas.
