Jesus Urias Melendez

Jesus Melendez Urias, age 88, passed away peacefully in Glenrose, TX on November 1, 2022.  He was born in Pilares, Chihuahua, Mexico on January 22, 1943 to Jose and Consuelo Melendez.

Jesus was a long-time resident of Van Horn, TX.  He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  He had a passion for horses, cattle and being outdoors.  If he wasn’t at home, you could find him at the corral tending to his horse or telling wild tales with his friends.  Jesus enjoyed talking to strangers, knowing that by the end of the conversation, he’ll have a new friend.

He was preceded in death by his father Jose Melendez and mother Consuelo Melendez Urias

Jesus is survived by his love of his life and wife of 57 years, Gloria Melendez; daughter Patricia and husband Timothy Jones of Burleson, TX; grandsons Ethan, Matthew, and Thomas Jones; son Jesus and wife Araceli Melendez of El Paso, TX; grandchildren Rebeca, Santiago, and Sebastian Melendez.

An evening viewing will be held on Sunday, November 6, at HWY 54 Church of Christ from 4pm to 8pm. There will be a morning viewing from 9am to 10am.  The funeral service is from 10am to 11am. The burial will follow at the Van Horn Cemetery.

The pallbearers serving are Ethan Jones, Matthew Jones, Thomas Jones, Salvador Melendez, Rey Melendez, Elmer Melendez, Victor Urias, Valentin Urias and Arnulfo Urias.
